School Bus Yellow

"School Bus Yellow" is a color specifically
designed for school buses because of its high visibility.

In 1939, Columbia University professor Frank
W. Cyr
organized a conference to create school bus construction standards,
including the color. Paint experts from DuPont and Pittsburgh Paints created
a shade of yellow that provided the greatest visibility in the semi-darkness
of early morning. They chose the obvious name of "school
bus yellow
."
