Just when you thought the news of the botched fresco meme finally reached an end, Cecilia Gimenez, the woman who “restored” the painting has now approached the church that houses the fresco and demanded that they pay her royalties for the work. To be fair, more tourists have come to the church as a result of her destruction, but then again, how many of the donations have actually been made in the hopes that the church will be able to pay a real artist to fix the artwork?
POLL: What do you guys think? Does she deserve royalties?
- Heck yes! It’s only famous because of her.
- No, she shouldn’t get paid for destroying real art.
- Well, technically, her work is subject to copyright, but she still shouldn’t be getting money from the church.
